Outfit Ranks - Explanation

Outfit ranks are divided in EIGHT categories, of which the higher FOUR have administrative privileges.

Outfit officers can /promote lower ranking members, but at most, to their immediately inferior level.
Ranking category definitions are intended for soldiers who work their way up from br1. Of course seasoned mercenaries who join the outfit might apply to superior categories, but that's out of the scope of this document.

List is as follows:

  • Augustus: outfit leader. Full rights. Can promote and kick any member.
  • Varangian guard
    • from 25001 points and further, First class officers
    • Only the most tough veterans can obtain this promotion-only title. Requires Command Rank 5 and will be assigned to those showing remarkable skills in participating in the command chain. Partaining to this circle is one of the outfit's highest honors.
  • Palatine guard
    • from 15001 points and further, Second class officers
    • Title earned by promotion only. Requires Command Rank 3, and is assigned to dedicated officers with a will to organise squads.
  • Tribunes
    • Unranked, Third class officers
    • obtained the title by foundation or merits prior to joining the outfit. Their rank does not necessarily reflect their abilities on the field.
  • Praefectus
    • from 10001 points and further. Required to form specialised divisions.
    • Experts. At these levels, experience usually comes from lone-hunting. A soldier this rank can surely still grow in skill, but just by refining their abilities. At this stage of skill, any soldier should be entrusted when providing transport or a firing platform.
  • Triarii
    • from 1001 to 10000 points
    • Intended as the main line, this category is formed by specialised soldiers, which have acquired a role based on their field experience. Any triarii should possess the skills required to form squads on their own.
  • Principes
    • from 101 to 1000 points
    • any principe from the ground up is a combat weary soldier. by all means no expert, but supposed to know the workarounds of the battlefield. Recommendation to stick to teammates advised.
  • Hastati
    • from 0 to 100 points
    • soldier-in-trial. 100 points aren't much, but they require dedication.
